Cancellation policy: Class payments are non-refundable and non-transferable, so please make sure you can attend a session before signing up. If we must cancel a class for any reason, we will give you the choice of a makeup session (applicable towards any class in the next 3 months) or a refund. We will make every effort to remind you about your class before it happens, but cannot be held responsible if you forget. Please be sure to mark your calendars and arrive to your class promptly so we can get started. We look forward to seeing you! ![]() Decoupage Class with Lisa Congdon Come learn to make a personalized decoupaged (collaged) plate to hang in your home with San Francisco mixed-media artist and illustrator, Lisa Congdon. Lisa will teach you the basics of collage (composition, pattern mixing and color) and the art of decoupage, which is a special form of collage that you can apply to many surfaces. You'll leave with one finished product! Bring with you an assortment of vintage or new regular or light-weight papers for your collage. Reform School will provide a glass plate, adhesives and scissors. Lisa will bring lots and lots of extra pretty papers (so if you don't have any, don't worry!!). Date: Friday, May 8 from 7-10pm. Price: $55.00 ![]() Sewing 101 with Christine Haynes Learn to sew! You've always wanted to make your own clothes, home accessories, and gifts-- this two-night class is your chance. Straight stitching, threading a machine and more will be second nature in no time. While you learn, you'll make a stylish envelope-back throw pillow for your home. Materials List: * 1 yard of cotton or linen fabric (10% discount on supplies purchased at Home Ec.) * Thread in the color of your choice * Notebook and pen for notes (We will provide you with an eco-friendly pillow form.) Dates: May 4 & 11 from 7-9pm OR May 18 & 25 from 7-9pm Price: $80.00 ![]() Survival Stitches with Andrae Gonzalo Are you sitting on a pile of items in disrepair from Forever 21 that you'd still wear, if the mending bill from your cleaners wasn't more than what you paid for them? Did your post-feminist mother teach you the subtleties of business management, but somehow forget to show you how to sew on a button? Have you ever wanted to do the splits on the dance floor, but refrained, simply because you knew you'd rip your pants? If the answer is 'yes' to any of these questions, then you need to join us for Survival Stitches! Every Wednesday night is a chance for Project Runway alumnus Andrae Gonzalo to teach you 6 miracle stitches that will literally save your sartorial life! In one three-hour session, you'll learn techniques that will hem your jeans, patch up knee holes, re-attach sleeves and linings, and even be strong enough to construct an entire garment if you have the misfortune to be on a flight with the Oceanic 6. Dates: May 6, May 13, May 20 or May 27 from 7-10 Price: $60.00 ![]() Glass Beadmaking with Cathi Milligan Ever wonder how glass beads were made? Now's your chance to find out! Here's an introductory class that will make a glass bead maker out of you. You'll leave with knowledge and beads...beads you made yourself. We'll go over workshop set-up, safety issues, glass types and the various tools used, and yes, we'll play with fire. Beginners are welcome! This two-night class happens from 7-10pm on Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23. There is an additional $10 materials fee payable to the instructor on the first night of class. Date: Fri. & Sat., May 22 & 23 from 7-10pm Price: $95.00 ![]() Patchwork Pillow with Alissa Haight-Carlton Learn to piece an improvisational "log cabin" block and then turn it into a quilted pillow sleeve! Never quilted before? A simple, small-scale project like this is the perfect way to start. Bring a selection of fabric scraps and thread, we'll supply the quilt batting and pillow form. Date: Thursday, May 28, 7-10pm Price: $60 ![]() Papier-Mache with Cathy of California Vintage crafts maven Cathy of California will teach students how to use recycled materials and a simple papier-mache technique to create retro-inspired accessories and objects. A wrapping paper tube can become a bracelet or an old bottle can become a vase! Create playful accessories or items for your home like wastebaskets and jewelry boxes. There is an additional $10 materials fee payable to the instructor on the first night of class. Date: Thu., May 14 & Thu. May 21, 7-10pm Price: $60 ![]() Indian Summer Sundress Learn to make an easy, breezy summer sundress with Christine Haynes, author of Chic and Simple Sewing. If you've already taken Sewing 101 or have equivalent experience, you can learn to make this dress! This flirty little number is made with no buttons or zippers, making it an ideal project for those who've just started sewing, or who have never tried sewing clothing before. You must own a copy of Chic and Simple Sewing to take this class (as it contains the pattern you will use), or purchase a copy on the first night of class. Class is two nights. Materials list will be e-mailed to you within 24 hours of payment. Date(s): Mondays, May 11 & 18, 7-10pm Price: $100 ![]() Needlefelting 101 Learn how to turn fluffy wool roving into amazing little fiber sculptures with little more than a needle and foam. We will concentrate on making animals and other shapes in this class, but will also cover the many other applications felting has such as applique and fabric-making. All materials included. On Friday night we have our monthly Open House craft night (stop by from 7-10pm with whatever project you're working on and just hang out!) and Saturday night we're hosting a book signing for one of our sewing teachers, Christine Haynes! We'll have sushi and sake, DJ Lady C spinning retro vinyl, and even some raffle goodies to give away from folks like Sublime Stitching, Faythe Levine, Mohop Shoes and Craft Stylish magazine. So stop by to meet Christine and get your book signed-- we'll even have some of the garments from the book on display in the shop. Hope to see you there!
