Great Day At The Flea!

Take a look at the incredible loot we scored at the Rose Bowl last weekend! There's nothing better than starting your morning finding tons of great goodies at the flea market. We wish we could've stayed longer but alas, the shop awaits!



Most of the items came from a booth where everything was $10. We're all set for the summer which we plan to spend doing alot of picnicing and camping. The umbrella was only $5. It's in perfect condition and we're pretty sure the handle is bakelite.

World's Best Oatmeal!

If you have a slow cooker, you simply must try this recipe. Toss the following ingredients in your crockpot at about 9 or 10pm and you will wake up to a perfect bowl of pipin-hot oatmeal. It's good stuff!

1 cup - steel cut oats
1 cup - half & half (fat free is fine)
4 cups - water
1/2 cup - brown sugar

set your pot on low and it'll be perfect in the morning (unless you're known to wake up at noon or something). If your slow cooker has a timer you can set it for about 8 hours. Makes 4 servings.

Terrarium Class

Here are some pics of the terrarium class we taught for Home Ec on Monday night. The class was at full capacity (yay!)and the group was so much fun. This is the 3rd or 4th class we've taught and we've yet to see anyone botch their terrarium.



Students can never resist playing with the toy animals!



Final touches...

Love Letters....

OK..OK...so we know this idea has made the rounds already, but I couldn't resist sharing the letter I made for my beau. I got the idea for the text from a postcard he mailed back home to me while we were on a trip in San Francisco. The trip was many years ago and when I gave him his love letter, he immediately recognized where the words came from. We've decided to hang the love letter over his side of the bed while my original postcard hangs on my side.

Natural Stage Project

This past Sunday we took a little hike up Runyan Canyon here in Los Angeles to meet up with Hikes Without Mics for the latest installment of Natural Stage Project. After a short trek, we laid out our blanket and enjoyed some food, friends and great music by some local talent like Roman Candle and our favorite of the day Homesick Elephant .



The weather was perfect and we couldn't think of a better way to spend our Sunday. We're hoping to work up our nerve for next time and show off some of our ukulele skills.. Not quite sure we're ready for an audience.


Even Otis had a great time.

Teepee Love

Here's a sneek peek at the project we're working on for Meg Ilasco's new book. This narrative decor book...title pending, will be filled with DIY projects and the stories behind the projects and their makers. It was so much fun making it and it's much easier than it looks. The girls obviously love it too!

You Got Big Dreams? You Want Fame?

Uni & her friend Kashmere performed in our window a few weeks ago and they were a huge hit. Such a hit that we are now taking sign ups for our ongoing Talent Show. If you have a talent that you'd like to show off in our window one weekend this summer let us know.. Magicians, musicians, mimes (scratch that, I'm afraid of mimes).. whatever mad skills you have, let us know about em'. Space is limited of course and some restrictions apply.
